In My 40s, My Body and Mind Were Falling Apart
When I hit my 40s, something just felt off — and it stayed that way for a long time.
By early afternoon every day, my brain would go foggy. I couldn’t think straight, couldn’t focus, couldn’t get anything done.
I’d wake up already exhausted and crash again by evening.
My weight had crept past 154 lbs (70 kg) without me really noticing. I kept telling myself, “I’ll deal with it eventually,” and years went by.
My mental state wasn’t great either — I’d get knocked down by small things, and there was this low-level anxiety in the background, always there.
I knew something had to change. I just didn’t know where to start.
How I Discovered Fasting — Through Overseas Research
The turning point came when I started following health researchers and scientists outside of Japan.
I kept seeing studies showing that fasting triggers cellular repair and may actually slow the aging process. This research was being published steadily in the West, and it was hard to ignore.
I went deep — read over 30 books, worked through research papers, and eventually became convinced: this is real.
So I decided to try it myself.
15 kg Gone in 3 Months. But the Bigger Surprise Was Everything Else.
In my first three months of fasting, I went from 154 lbs (70 kg) down to 121 lbs (55 kg).
33 pounds. Gone.
Honestly, I was shocked. I’d tried plenty of diets before — nothing had ever worked this smoothly.
But what surprised me even more than the weight loss was how different my body and mind felt.
- The afternoon brain fog? Almost completely gone.
- I started waking up actually rested.
- My focus at work improved — and so did my results.
- My mood stabilized. The emotional rollercoaster flattened out.
- That background anxiety faded significantly.
“Just by changing when I eat — this much changed?”
I’d thought of fasting as just a weight-loss tool. But it turned out to be something that transformed my whole body and mind.
Why I Started This Blog
In the English-speaking world, intermittent fasting is widely accepted and well-researched. But a lot of the content out there is surface-level — focused only on weight loss, often missing the deeper science.
What I want to share goes further:
- Fasting as disease prevention — not just a diet
- Its effects on brain health and cognitive function
- Mental stability and stress resilience
- Cellular rejuvenation through autophagy
You might start because you want to lose weight. That’s totally fine.
But I believe fasting has the power to transform your body and mind at a deeper level — and I want to share that through my own story.
